Property developers in nation witness strong sales growth

BEIJING - Major property developers in China saw better-than-expected sales growth in September, but tightened financing and market regulation still point to pressure on the industry in the coming months.

Contracted sales of China Evergrande Group, a leading property firm, set a new monthly record of 83.1 billion yuan ($11.7 billion) in September this year, according to a company statement.

Country Garden, another property giant, said in a statement that contracted sales attributable to the company's shareholders amounted to 51.6 billion yuan in September, up 40.4 percent year-on-year.
