Zhang succeeds Jack Ma as Alibaba chairman
As per stated plan, Jack Ma resigned as chairman of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd on Sept 10, the same day the company celebrated its 20th anniversary. Ma said at the celebration that he will spend more time on education and charity work after leaving Alibaba. Ma was succeeded by group CEO Zhang Yong (pictured).Zhang took over from Lu Zhaoxi as CEO in 2015. Zhang is credited with starting Taobao's Singles Day event.
