Medical industry poised to benefit from advances

In the 1980s, Paolo Dario dreamed of developing highly advanced artificial limbs, such as those seen in the movie Star Wars, to help people who really need such devices, but he never expected his dream to be realized.

Dario, a professor of biomedical robotics at the University of Pisa Sant'Anna in Italy, said that as an engineer he always wants to see such dreams come true, even if this involves a lot of work.

He made the comment in Beijing last month during a keynote speech at the 2019 World Robot Conference on the intricate technology used for bionic robots.
