Britain might free oil tanker soon, IRNA says

Iran said on Tuesday that Britain might free its oil tanker Grace 1 soon in a maritime saga that has exacerbated frictions between Teheran and the West. But a source for Gibraltar, where marines seized the tanker on July 4 on suspicion of violating European sanctions by taking oil to Syria, denied an Iranian report that it could happen on Tuesday. Teheran has denied its vessel was doing anything improper.

Landslide death toll at 65 as rescue continues

The death toll from a monsoon landslide in Myanmar's Mon state rose to 65 as of Tuesday afternoon, according to latest figures released by the Myanmar Fire Services Department. "Rescue efforts will be carried out until the bodies of all missing ones are found," a rescuer said. The deadly landslide in Paung township occurred on Friday.
