The trial has ended, but justice has not been served

It has been just over two years since I started to follow the Zhang Yingying kidnapping and killing case.

I still remember the summer day in 2017 when I saw that a visiting Chinese scholar was missing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States.

As an overseas Chinese student myself, I was worried about Zhang and started to contact local Chinese communities and students at UIUC for the latest information. At the time, I never thought Zhang had been kidnapped or killed. Everyone thought she was just missing.
