Schmeichel happy to offer United a Brit of sage advice

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel is urging his former team to return to its roots and build for the future with British players at its core.

"We have to look at who we are, go back to our values, to our culture and start building the team from what we traditionally always have done, from within our local community," the 55-year-old former goalkeeper told Xinhua during a visit to Beijing on Sunday.

United has been overtaken on the pitch by Manchester City in recent years, with the last of the Red Devils' 20 English Premier League titles coming in 2013.
