Trademark Office rolls back fees

The Trademark Office of the National Intellectual Property Administration reduced administrative fees for some of its services, starting Monday. A trademark registration extension fee has been slashed in half, from 1,000 yuan ($150) to 500 yuan. An application for changing items related to a registered trademark previously cost 250 yuan, but now is 150 yuan. The office is promoting online filings and has rolled out incentive policies including administrative service fee favors.

Innovation contest crowns 22 winners

The latest Beijing Invention and Innovation Competition awarded 230 projects and figures from across the country last week, including two top-prize winners and 20 golden medal winners. The annual event, which debuted in 2006, aims to integrate tech innovations into daily lives, its organizers said. The 13th session opened last July and attracted more than 1,980 entries from around the country.

Tech Week builds provincial capital

A series of events were held during the Nanjing Tech Week from June 26-30, which centered on the theme of "Infinite Nanjing, Infinite Future". The events included forums, lectures, startup project and innovation competitions, business matchmaking activities, a tech show and a cultural and tech carnival. They were aimed at displaying Nanjing's innovation achievements, attracting high-level professionals, innovation resources and high-tech projects to help build the provincial capital into a globally influential innovation hub, local officials said.

Platform growing China-EU cooperation

A China-Europe regional economic cooperation demonstration platform was inaugurated at a recent forum in the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone. The move will help the zone in Chengdu further its collaboration with Europe and create a long-term cooperation mechanism, local officials said at the EU-China Smart City and Technology Innovation Forum. The forum attracted many representatives of European city governments and institutions.

Trademark festival to feature expositions

The 2019 China Trademark Festival is scheduled to open Friday and will last through Monday in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region. With the theme of "strengthening trademarks and brands protection and building a new path of innovation and development", this year's event will include the China Trademark Annual Meeting, a trademark exposition, a trademark design competition and the first National College Debates Competition on Trademark Hot Spot Issues. Government officials, judges, experts, NGO representatives and business leaders from China and abroad are expected to attend the event.

Copyright fair to provide networking

The China International Animation Copyright Fair is slated to be held in Dongguan on August 16-19. The annual event will cover an area of 16,250 square meters, comprised of two exhibition halls designed for intellectual property authorizations and animation experiences respectively. The former section will focus on business matchmaking events and the latter will provide interactive experiences, where a video gaming competition and a display of derivatives targeting animation fans will be scheduled.
