China Daily | Updated: 2019-06-28 08:21

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - China's former Winter Olympic champion Yang Yang has been confirmed as the lone vice-presidential candidate for the World Anti-Doping Agency at the ongoing 134th session of the International Olympic Committee.

The 43-year-old Yang and new WADA president, Poland's sprinter-turned Minister of Sport and Tourism Witold Banka, were confirmed by outgoing president Craig Reedie on Wednesday.

"I would like to congratulate the president and vice-president of the organization. They will be elected during the world conference. I wish them every success. It's significant that both are former athletes," said Reedie.
