San Francisco to become 1st US city to ban e-cigarettes
San Francisco will soon become the first city in the United States to ban the sale of e-cigarettes. The elected Board of Supervisors on Tuesday passed a landmark bill that would prohibit the sale, manufacture and distribution of electronic smoking devices and flavored tobacco products on city property.
Mayor London Breed has said she will sign the bill into law.
"There is so much we don't know about the health impacts of these products, but we do know that e-cigarette companies are targeting our kids in their advertising and getting them hooked on addictive nicotine products. We need to take action to protect the health of San Francisco's youth and prevent the next generation of San Franciscans from becoming addicted to these products," Breed has said.
