More unity urged among Northeast Asian nations

Experts called on countries in Northeast Asia to seize the historic opportunity and conform to the times to strive for a better future for the region.

In a panel session of the International Forum for Open Global Economy held in Osaka, Japan, on Tuesday, participants said that Northeast Asia is now at a critically historic juncture.

"Northeast Asian countries should boost mutual trust and safeguard regional peace and stability as they face rising unilateralism and protectionism," said Hu Zhengyue, vice-president of the China Public Diplomacy Association and former assistant minister of foreign affairs. Hu added that maintaining and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation is the only choice for countries in the region.
