Marcos Baghdatis, who put Cyprus in the global tennis spotlight, said on Monday he will retire from playing after Wimbledon.
Baghdatis, 34, rose to a career-high No 8 in the world rankings in 2006, having reached the Australian Open final in 2006 and the semifinals at Wimbledon later that year.
However, he has slipped to 134 in the world rankings, after a 15-year career on the ATP Tour.
