By Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2019-06-22 07:15

Chinese police, together with their counterparts in Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand, cracked human trafficking and marriage fraud cases involving more than 1,100 foreign women who were sold to buyers in China, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Friday.

Authorities also arrested 1,332 suspects in the cases, which were part of a special campaign last year.

Most of the women were abducted or tricked into going to China and then forced to marry local men or offer sex services, officials said.
