UNESCO meeting spotlights host city Meishan's preservation of history

An upcoming international meeting has put its host city of Meishan, Sichuan province into the limelight for its achievements in conserving and rejuvenating ancient towns and villages.

Held by UNESCO, Sichuan provincial departments and the Meishan government, the meeting on the future of historically important towns and villages, scheduled for June 10-12, aims to share the successful cases of rural revitalization from across the world, in a bid to help forge the inclusive and sustainable development of rural areas.

Some 180 guests from China and abroad have been invited to the meeting to discuss rural revitalization, poverty alleviation and heritage conservation, sharing their insights into the future development of traditional villages and towns worldwide.
