Teddy bear≠brown bear

My heart skipped multiple beats during a recent visit to a zoo in Beijing with my two-year-old daughter. A dog was jumping and running in front of two Siberian tigers and an African lion.

I felt nervous fearing that one of the big cats would attack the dog and had an impulse to rush into the glass enclave and rescue it. But minutes passed and nothing happened. And then suddenly my daughter shouted: "Mom! Look! Simba's father! Simba's father!"

How did the unique bond develop between the different species?
