The United Nations Human Settlements Programme concluded its first session of the UN-Habitat Assembly in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi over the weekend with a pledge to accelerate implementation of the New Urban Agenda, or NUA, and the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs.
More than 3,000 delegates who attended the five-day event adopted ministerial declarations, five resolutions and one decision to promote sustainable urbanization.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Martha Delgado, UN-Habitat Assembly president, said the delegates adopted guidelines on safer cities and a strategic plan for the period 2020-23.
