Baidu promotes Shen to mobile biz senior VP

Internet giant Baidu Inc promoted Shen Dou to senior vice-president this month. He will be in charge of the newly founded mobile business, which has been spun off from its search engine, Baidu's core business. Shen helped develop the Baidu app, Haokan short video app and Baidu smart mini program. Robin Li, chairman and CEO of Baidu, said Shen's strategic insights can help convert challenging concepts into reality. Meanwhile, Xiang Hailong, president of Baidu's online search business, has resigned after it reported a net loss of 327 million yuan ($49 million) in the first quarter of 2019.
