Sudanese talks with opposition suspended

By Xinhua and Agencies | China Daily | Updated: 2019-05-17 07:48

Sudan's Transitional Military Council, or TMC, on Thursday announced suspension of talks with the major opposition forces for three days, Xinhua News Agency reported.

"We have decided to suspend the negotiation for 72 hours until a climate is prepared for the talks," said General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, TMC chairman, in a statement broadcast live by official Sudan TV early on Thursday.

Al-Burhan set conditions for resuming the negotiation, including removing the barricades put up by protesters outside their sit-in area near the Defense Ministry, opening the railway line and stopping harassment against regular forces.
