Hong Kong lawmakers aim to revise fugitive legislation to plug loopholes

The deputy head of the Basic Law Committee has voiced support for amendments to legislation on fugitives in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, saying it is in line with the Basic Law and is urgently needed.

Zhang Yong, vice-chairman of the Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remark on Saturday after delivering the keynote speech at a Basic Law seminar in the city to mark the 29th anniversary of the Basic Law of the HKSAR being announced and published.
