Ex-official: China's role key to Asia's prosperity

Peace has been the basis of Asian civilizations, and a strong and stable China can lead the region to a future of prosperity, according to a former deputy prime minister of Thailand.

"Asian civilization is based on peace," said Korn Dabbaransi, who is now the president of the Thai-Chinese Friendship Association. "Peace is what binds us together. This is the spirit of Asia."
