Carl's Jr. fast food chain testing hamburger with cannabis sauce

By Ai Heping in New York | China Daily | Updated: 2019-04-19 07:29

A Carl's Jr. restaurant in Denver, the capital of the first US state to create a legal marijuana market, will offer a one-day special on Saturday: A hamburger with cannabis-laced sauce.

The burger has a "Santa Fe Sauce" infused with hemp-based CBD-oil, the non-psychoactive component of cannabis that can promote calmness and relaxation, but will not get you high, Reuters reported.

The national fast-food chain says the burger, officially called the Rocky Mountain High CheeseBurger Delight, is a test to see if the burger should be on its permanent menu. The one-day sale to customers over the age of 18 will make Carl's Jr. the first national fast food chain in the United States to add CBD to its menu.
