Death toll rises to 11 in sudden flooding

Eleven people were killed in floods triggered by a sudden rainstorm in Shenzhen on Thursday night, local authorities said on Saturday. The body of the last missing person was found on Saturday afternoon, a source with the city's emergency management bureau said. At around 9 pm on Thursday, heavy rain pounded Shenzhen, leading to floods that washed away workers who were dredging culverts in different sections of Luohu and Futian. The average precipitation over three hours on Thursday night reached 65 millimeters in Luohu district, according to the Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau.
