Sudden rainstorm kills at least nine, with others still missing

At least nine people died and two are still missing after a sudden heavy storm hit Shenzhen, Guangdong province, local authorities announced on Friday.

At about 8 pm on Thursday, local authorities issued hail and storm warnings and at 9:40 pm, rainfall started to pour in the city. Warnings were canceled at around 11 pm.

The city recorded about 30 millimeters of precipitation in 30 minutes.
