Kheith Rhynne Cruz is on a seemingly inexorable rise to the elite ranks of table tennis, with the Filipino teenager grateful for the crucial role China is playing in her development.

Last month, the 13-year-old from Manila became the youngest ever member of the Philippines' female team thanks to a top-five finish at a qualifying event.
