Foreign debt increases in 2018
Foreign debt of China increased by 12 percent in 2018 year-on-year to $1.97 trillion, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange said on Friday. "The country's foreign debt risk is under control," said Wang Chunying, a spokeswoman of the administration. The total foreign debt outstanding accounted for 14.4 percent of China's GDP by the end of last year, and the short-term foreign debt was 41.4 percent of the foreign exchange reserve, within a safe range of the international standards, she said.
