SAN ANTONIO - Manu Ginobili would have been happy to quietly ride into the sunset without the Spurs retiring his jersey, but San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said the humble Argentine had no choice but to accept it with the same passion he gave to the game.

"When you're that great you have to go through it, so we made him go through it," Popovich said.
