Liu leads domestic charge for Open

Beijing's Liu Yanwei shot a stunning 5-under 65 in Wednesday's second round to finish at 6-under 134 and win the domestic qualifying tournament for the Volvo China Open at Nansha Golf Club in Guangzhou.

A total of nine players confirmed their places at the Open, which runs May 2-5 at Genzon Golf Club in Shenzhen. The 21-year-old Liu will be making his seventh appearance in the national championship.

Guangdong native Zhang Zihong, 19, clinched second place at 5-under 135 after also carding a 65 in the second round. Six players tied for third place at 137, including 39-year-old Li Jianshan of Beijing, who capped a brilliant comeback from 1-over at the halfway point.
