What they are saying in 'passage interviews'

China Daily | Updated: 2019-03-16 07:15

I have spent more than 39 years educating children in a remote mountainous village in Jiangxi province and have seen the great improvement of facilities at our school. One no longer sees adobe school buildings with broken roofs and windows. However, rural teachers still have poor working conditions, and the profession is still not attractive enough. I hope the government can continue to support rural teachers and increase their salaries, so that more young people will choose to teach in rural schools and more rural children can have the opportunity to see the outside world.

The environmental protection of Sanjiangyuan National Park in Qinghai province has made great progress but still faces acute challenges because of its vulnerable ecosystems. The herdsmen in some key protection areas have shifted their role from consumers of grassland resources to grassland guardians. More and stronger moves will be taken to protect the prefecture's waters, forests and lakes, as well as to encourage herdsmen and farmers to change their production methods and lifestyles in pursuit of high-quality economic development.
