Beijing
First evidence-based TCM center launched
An evidence-based medical center for traditional Chinese medicine - the first of its kind in the world - was established on Tuesday at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. The center will pool the evidence-based research efforts of the academy and organizations like the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Evidence-based medicine is a widely used approach in medical practice that seeks to optimize decision-making in treating individual patients by emphasizing the use of evidence from well-designed and well-conducted research. Though increasingly recognized around the world, TCM lacks evidence justifying its clinical effectiveness and safety, which according to experts hinders it from "going global".
