Don Miller, the late 91-year-old missionary and owner of the Indiana farm where 42,000 artifacts and relics were found during an FBI operation in 2014, has been described in media reports as a "real-life Indiana Jones".
Tim Carpenter, head of the FBI team in charge of the case, said Miller, who was also an engineer, was well-traveled. "He was an international man of mystery, he loved to travel, and he collected items in pretty much every corner of the world," he said.
Miller, who died in 2015, had a hoard of stolen antiques, including the 361 objects repatriated to China last week, pre-Columbian era pottery and an Italian mosaic, and hundreds of human bones from Native American burial sites, the FBI said.
