Asia Horse Week
Complementing the Longines Masters of Hong Kong again this year was the second Asia Horse Week, bringing together global and regional delegates to discuss issues ranging from equestrian development in Asia to horse breeding, veterinary regulations and horse welfare.
In his opening address, HKJC Chairman Dr Anthony W K Chow noted Hong Kong had a long and distinguished tradition of equine sport, with horse racing having been an integral part of the city for over 130 years. The state-of-the-art facilities at the newly opened Hong Kong Jockey Club Conghua Racecourse, he said, would enable the club to take its racing to the next level of excellence.
"What is unprecedented about Conghua is its status as the mainland's only world-class racecourse and training centre, located in its only large-scale internationally recognized equine disease-free zone. It is ideally placed to support the development of equine sport and the equine industry on the mainland, with the Greater Bay Area being the nexus."
