New airport passes flight inspections
Flight inspections of Beijing's new international airport were completed on Sunday, 19 days ahead of schedule, according to aviation officials. At 10:20 am, an aircraft that had taken off from Beijing Capital International Airport landed smoothly on the northern runway at Beijing Daxing International Airport. The Civil Aviation Administration's North China Regional Bureau called the landing the "successful completion" of a series of flight tests over 34 days. The tests started on Jan 22 and were supposed to go until March 15. The inspections covered the new airport's four runways, six landing systems, lighting facilities and other services. Daxing airport is scheduled to be completed by June 30 and start commercial operations by Sept 30.
