Wang jumps for joy in Germany

By Shi Futian | China Daily | Updated: 2019-02-22 08:50

Sprinter Su Bingtian was not the only Chinese athlete who lit up the IAAF World Indoor Tour Dusseldorf meet on Wednesday. The other star was high jumper Wang Yu, who refreshed China's national indoor record to 2.34 meters en route to winning a silver.

The long-awaited breakthrough made Wang, who won gold at the Jakarta Asian Games last August, more confident of leaping even higher at this fall's World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.

"I finally broke my own limit and set the indoor national record," said Wang, whose personal best was the outdoor 2.33m he got in 2013 in Beijing.
