3 held for dealing in animal parts

Police in Yunnan province said they apprehended three suspects and confiscated 51 pieces of wildlife products weighing 2.86 kilograms. On receiving a tip that people were illegally selling ivory products, police in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture launched an investigation in January. They detained a suspect, a shop owner identified as Chen, on Jan 15 in Jinghong, and found many products made from ivory and rhinoceros horn in his house. In a subsequent operation, they apprehended two other collaborators in the city. Since 2017, police said, Chen had illegally purchased wildlife products from Fujian province and made a profit by reselling them in other Chinese provinces through WeChat.
