Teachers in England will receive more support early in their careers, have the opportunity to work flexibly or part-time, and see reductions in their workload as part of a new government strategy aimed at boosting the number of teachers and ensuring they stay in the profession.
Unveiled on Monday by Damian Hinds, the United Kingdom's education minister, the plan is the government's first such integrated strategy to recruit and retain more teachers.
Secondary schools in England currently have an urgent need to recruit and retain teachers and the number of secondary school pupils is forecast to rise by 15 percent during the next decade, according to the National Foundation for Educational Research.
