Emir of Qatar makes state visit

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will pay a state visit to China from Wednesday to Thursday at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang announced on Tuesday. The visit will be the emir's second to China as a head of state. His first visit was in November 2014, during which the two nations upgraded bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.
