Chipmaker seeks end to US curbs

Chipmaker Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Co Ltd said on Friday it had asked US authorities to remove it from the export control list. The firm said in a statement that its plea was made on grounds that it does not pose any security risks to the United States. Earlier this month, the company said it had pleaded not guilty to US government charges that it stole trade secrets. The US Justice Department last year launched an indictment against Fujian Jinhua and United Microelectronics Corp, alleging they attempted to steal trade secrets from memory chip maker Micron Technology Inc.
