Hainan foreign trade volume rises by 20%

Foreign trade volume in southern China's Hainan province exceeded 84.9 billion yuan ($12.5 billion) in 2018, up 20.8 percent, customs officials said on Tuesday. The province's export volume totaled 29.8 billion yuan, up 0.7 percent, while the import volume reached 55.1 billion yuan, up 35.4 percent from the same period a year earlier. The island province's trade with economies along the Belt and Road reached 31.9 billion yuan, accounting for 37.6 percent of the total. ASEAN member states, the United States and the European Union were the province's top three trading partners.
