Former high official pleads guilty to fraud

Feng Xinzhu, former vice-governor of Shaanxi province, pleaded guilty to accepting more than 70 million yuan ($10.3 million) in bribes, a court in Zhejiang province said. Prosecutors said during the trial on Thursday that Feng took advantage of his positions, including chairman of an electricity enterprise in Shaanxi and mayor of Tongchuan, to get money after offering to help individuals and departments in project investments, funding, mining and job promotions between 1999 and 2017, according to the Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court in Zhejiang.
