Central, eastern provinces see first snowfall of winter

Some eastern and central provinces in China experienced their first snow and sleet of 2019 on Wednesday morning, and some places were expected to see heavy snow, according to the National Meteorological Center.
The center said that snow began falling in southern Henan, northeastern Hubei, central Anhui and southwestern Jiangsu provinces at 8 am Wednesday and is expected to continue to about 2 pm on Thursday.
Heavy rain lashed many places in South China on Tuesday, and storms are expected to continue through Friday, it said. Southern Yunnan province was expected to receive a total of 100 to 120 millimeters of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.
