Chinese patents up 18.1 percent

The number of new patents registered on the Chinese mainland in 2018 increased by 18.1 percent year-on-year, a meeting of the heads of intellectual property rights administrations concluded on Monday. As of the end of the year, about 1.6 million inventions had been registered from the Chinese mainland. The number of trademark registrations reached 18.05 million, up 32.8 percent. Last year, 31,000 trademark violation cases valued at 550 million yuan ($80.3 million), were investigated.
