Former Sinochem executive sentenced

Former general manager of Sinochem Group, Cai Xiyou, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for accepting bribes. Cai pleaded guilty to the charges and said he would not appeal. He was sentenced by the Intermediate People's Court of Taian, Shandong province, for taking bribes of more than 53.67 million yuan ($7.8 million). Property that he illegally obtained will be recovered. He was also fined 3 million yuan. Cai was appointed to lead Sinochem in 2014 after a long career at China Petroleum and Chemical Corp, where he was previously a senior vice-president and Sinopec Corp's general manager.
