Farm mechanization rate increases by 66%
The mechanization rate in China's agriculture sector exceeded 66 percent in 2017, a Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs official said on Wednesday. China currently has more than 2,500 agricultural machinery enterprises, and agricultural production is mostly done with farming machines, rather than manual labor, said Zhang Taolin, vice-minister of agriculture and rural affairs. Implementation of the rural revitalization strategy and agricultural modernization has spurred demand for mechanization, Zhang said, adding the ministry will also strive to push forward the development of high quality agricultural machinery.
