Former NPC official dies at age 92

Tomur Dawamat, former vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, died on Wednesday afternoon at the age of 92. Tomur, of Uygur ethnicity, is a native of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. He was born in 1927 and joined the CPC in 1952. He held various Party and government posts in Xinjiang for almost five decades from 1950 to 1996. Tomur was a member of the 12th, 13th and 14th CPC Central Committees and vice-chairman of the 8th and 9th NPC Standing Committees.
