Volkswagen makes history again and reaffirms its position in China market

Every international brand present in China has benefitted from the country's reform and opening-up, but few of them have been as lucky as Volkswagen AG, which has witnessed and indeed experienced the changes brought by the policy from the very start.
The story began in the German carmaker's headquarters in Wolfsburg in 1978, when a Chinese delegation came to Germany in search of a partner from the automotive industry for a project in Shanghai.
They held exploratory talks, and a few weeks later Volkswagen and representatives of the Chinese government began negotiations on the local assembly of Volkswagen-branded models.
