Chende pioneered smart production

By Yuan Shenggao | China Daily | Updated: 2018-12-14 08:16

Chende Plastics Machinery, the first joint venture created by the Shunde government and Hong Kong's Chen Hsong Holdings in 1986, has played a significant role in supporting the development of Foshan's advanced manufacturing industry.

CK Chiang, vice-chairman of Chen Hsong Holdings, said that Chende, in Foshan's Shunde district, is Chen Hsong's first business unit to implement zero defect standards in its quality management procedures.

"The practical experiences generated from Chende have been promoted in all the factories in Chen Hsong, which strongly support the group's quality improvement," Chiang said.

China has implemented the Made in China 2025 plan to promote the industrial manufacturing upgrade and transformation. Chiang said Chende Plastics has become a pioneer in the group for promoting smart production.

Smart production is currently being used for Chende Plastics' automatic cylinder cover and piston production lines.

"It's great that a machinery producer runs automatic cylinder cover and piston production lines," Chiang said.

Chiang said the automated production lines have shortened the production time from 14 minutes to seven minutes. It also helped to reduce the numbers of workers on the production lines, Chiang said.

Chende Plastics has also designed, manufactured and assembled a production line to produce plastics machines.

The new production line can produce a machine in 90 minutes, down from three hours previously. Additionally, the number of staff members on the production line has gone down from six to three.

Chiang said the company will continue to implement automated production to help its clients improve their production efficiency.

Chen Hsong, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, is also paying a lot of attention to charity work in China.

Chiang Chen, the founder of Chen Hsong, established the Chiang Chen Industrial Charity Foundation in 1990 to support the development of the manufacturing industry. The charity foundation has donated more than 300 million yuan ($43.48 million) to the cause and trained over 20,000 workers.

Chiang Lai Yuen, chairman and chief executive officer of Chen Hsong, said that the foundation is providing scholarships to more than 10 top universities in China.

Looking ahead, Chiang Lai Yuen said Chen Hsong will continue to promote technology and the development of the advanced manufacturing industry in China.
