A meeting between Xi, Trump could provide guidance for ties

There's hope that an expected meeting between President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump will provide strategic and political guidance to the China-US relationship, which the two nations could use to address trade issues, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai said.

Cui was speaking in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday - days before the two leaders are set to meet on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Argentina, which is on Friday and Saturday. He called on the two nations to reach a negotiated solution to the prolonged trade conflict.
