By Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2018-11-15 08:08

As a growing number of fugitives suspected of economic crimes have returned to face justice from overseas, China is attaching great importance to recovering their ill-gotten gains.

Figures released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the top anti-graft watchdog, show that between the start of Operation Skynet in April 2015 and the end of last month, more than 4,000 economic fugitives, including 800 corrupt officials, had returned to face trial.

During the same period, illegal assets valued at 10.46 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) were recovered, according to the CCDI.
