Undersea subway tunnel completed
China announced on Tuesday that construction has been completed on its deepest underwater subway tunnel connecting parts of the Chinese mainland. The tunnel, running 8.1 kilometers, with 3.5 km of it underwater, links the eastern and western parts of Qingdao, Shandong province, China Railway No 3 Engineering Group said. Its deepest section is 88 meters below sea level. Construction started in September 2015.
