New swine fever case reported

A new outbreak of African swine fever has been confirmed in Hunan province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said on Tuesday. Of the 546 pigs raised on a local farm in Yiyang, 44 were infected and 17 died, the ministry said in a statement on its website. In Changde, 208 of the 268 pigs on a local farm were infected and 31 were dead, the statement said. Local authorities have initiated an emergency response to cull and disinfect the pigs.
