Turkish firms gear up to promote goods
ANKARA - Turkey is gearing up for the first China International Import Expo where its firms will be actively seeking new cooperation and trade opportunities in a global market increasingly affected by crippling US protectionism.
The world's first import-themed national-level expo, the CIIE will be held in Shanghai in November. It has attracted exhibitors from all G20 members, over 50 countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, which refers to an ultra-modern land-and-sea project proposed by China in 2013.
The BRI aims to boost trade links and infrastructure connectivity among Asia, Europe and Africa - a throwback to the ancient Silk Road routes. It comprises the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
